Chia SeeD Watermelon smoothie recipe!

Looking for ways to make a delicious and easy watermelon smoothie recipe? Watermelon makes me think of summer, so why not turn it into a delicious and refreshing drink recipe! With the addition of frozen strawberries to this recipe no ice was needed, the frozen fruit makes this cool and tasty treat.

Watermelon is packed with nutrients including vitamin C, potassium, and some of the most important antioxidants such as lycopene! This fruit is also packed with electrolytes such as sodium and potassium.

Also rich in B vitamins and citrulline which is an amino acid that our body converts into another amino acid called arginine. Arginine potentially improves blood flow and other aspects for cardiovascular health. The most citrulline is in the flesh of the watermelon, however I lightly sliced off the flesh in this recipe, can leave some on if desired.

Did you know that the cucumber is part of the same botanical family as melons including the watermelon?  Cucumbers help to keep you hydrated as it's water content is over 90%, it also helps to flush toxins from the body. Also rich in Vitamin K, C, copper, potassium, manganese and magnesium.  A good source of fiber and aids in digestion

With the addition of Chia Seeds to this recipe you are also adding a boost of healthy omega-3, a complete source of protein, and fiber! So drink up!!

watermelon smoothie recipe ingredients:

  • 1 Organic Cucumber Diced
  • 2 1/2 Cups Watermelon Diced, with skin removed
  • 1 to 2 tsp Fresh Organic Ginger, skin removed
  • 1/4 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 1 tsp Pure Lemon Juice
  • 2 Cups Organic Frozen Strawberries 
  • 2 tsp Chia Seeds

In a blender and add all of the ingredients in the order listed above. Make sure to remove the skin of the watermelon and remove ends of cucumber. Dice ingredients in order to fit into your blender.

Next just blend all of the ingredients until smooth and pour into your favorite glass to enjoy this delicious and refreshing treat!

You can add water if a thinner smoothie is desired however I found that it was not necessary as both watermelon and cucumber have a high water content.
