Want to start your day off right? Give one of our healthy smoothie recipes a try!

Did you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day; however this meal is often skipped?

Skipping this meal can lead to weight gain or make it difficult to maintain a healthy weight.

How can you start your day off right with a healthy breakfast when you have a busy day?

How about a smoothie to start your day? You may be wondering, how is that going to feel me up?

We need more than just fruit to make this filling, we need protein which we do by adding flax seed and sunbutter to this nutritious recipe.

It’s easy and convenient and can be made within a few minutes or even prepared the night before.

For an added convenience there are now even more personal blenders available that have easy to go cups so you can blend and go without having to make extra dishes.

Ingredients for this healthy recipe:

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Fresh Brewed Green Tea
  • 1 Tbl Pure Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tbl Golden Flax Seeds
  • 1/2 Cup Raspberries
  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • ¼ Cup Spinach
  • 1 Tbl Sunbutter

Start by boiling 1 cup of water, pour into a cup and place the green tea bag in it, allow the tea to steep per package directions (usually 5 to 10 minutes). While the tea prepares in the blender combine, water, lemon juice, golden flax seeds, raspberries, banana, spinach and sunbutter.

Note: For added convenience or when out of season use organic frozen raspberries and spinach. I also use pure lemon juice (ingredient is just lemon) instead of having to squeeze one.

Once ready add to tea to blender and pulse all ingredients until smooth. Your nutritious breakfast is now ready to enjoy!

What are some of the benefits of adding golden flax seed, sunbutter and green tea to your healthy shake?

Flax seed contains high levels of dietary fiber (healthy digestion), omega 3 fatty acids (good for heart health).

Sunbutter is another good source of protein, and fiber. Made from sunflower seeds this is a great alternative to nut butters like peanut butter and almond butter.

The antioxidants in green tea help fight free radicals.
