I am excited to announce that I just released my first ever Healthy Dessert Recipes e-cookbook! I started this site at the beginning of 2012 and enjoy seeing how much it has grown and helped other people who have food allergies!
I love dessert and when food allergies become a part of your life it can be a major lifestyle change to no longer include ingredients like wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy and nuts into your recipes.
How am I supposed to enjoy my old time favorite cookie recipes, pudding recipes, milkshakes and candies like a peanut butter filled chocolate cup?
It’s really simple! Luckily we live in an age where there are a lot more options available to you in the allergy friendly baking isle. Check the health food section at your local grocery store.
One of the first desserts I came across was an Enjoy Life Cookie (not endorsed), love these cookies however they can be costly and I always love home baked goods something that was passed on by my grandmother who loved to bake!
I have found in a lot of food allergy cookbooks that they like to use a lot of sugar, and while I want my desserts to taste like dessert I also want them to be healthy and nutritious.
I use ingredients like pumpkin seeds (you can find a few pumpkin recipes on my site for free, like these pumpkin cookies or pumpkin muffin recipes). I like to buy raw pumpkin seeds in bulk from the grocery store. Did you know these seeds are packed with; fiber, Vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and healthy carbohydrates? They are also a source of protein, beneficial fats and minerals.
Visit us on Facebook to share your favorite dessert recipes or to share what has been your biggest challenge since starting to live your allergy friendly lifestyle. Please also let us know if you have any recipe suggestions that you would like to see on this site.
