This spinach and basil pesto recipe is allergy safe avoiding; nuts, seeds and the 8 most common food allergies! It is absolutely delicious, we rarely ever have leftovers in my house!!! 

Additionally this healthy sauce recipe is packed with veggie, from the taste of it you would never know! No need to miss out on this wonderful sauce that typically calls for pine nuts. Make this allergy safe sauce at home for the whole family to enjoy!

This has to be one of my favorite and new go to sauces recipes. As a plus it is a super quick and easy recipe to make, it pairs perfectly with so many healthy dinner recipes. Trying using this onto of our zucchini pasta recipe. Whether you are looking to add a new twist and punch of flavor to your favorite chicken recipe with yams or sweet potato, or serve on top of a turkey burger!

Another great bonus to this recipe is that it is a lot healthier than your typical store bought sauce and you know exactly what ingredients you are adding, making this an allergy safe sauce!

This recipe uses fresh ingredients, I buy organic whenever possible, and very little oil making this a perfect recipe to add into your list of recipes that are healthy and avoid the 8 most common allergens, plus it is quick and easy to make.

If you happen to have any leftovers is stores well in the fridge for a few days just stir as the color will turn a little brown due to the greens and avocado. So feel free to make ahead of time and when your ready to enjoy simply stir to mix ingredients and use on your favorite dinner recipe!

Pine Nut and Nut Free Pesto Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 can Artichoke Hearts (14 oz can)
  • 1 Package Fresh Basil Leaves (2oz)
  • 2-4 Cloves Fresh Garlic 
  • 2 tsp Fresh Pure Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Cup Chopped Spinach
  • 1/2 Ripe Avocado
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup water (to desired thickness and to help blend)
  • 2 tsp Nutritional Yeast Flakes (you can also substitute with a dairy free cheese if desired)

Place all ingredients into a food processor I generally start in the order of the ingredients listed above.

Depending on the size of your food processor or blender you can blend in a couple batches. If needed stir occasionally and pulse until all ingredients are well combined.

If you have any leftovers store in a small container (so there is not a lot of space for air) and seal and store in the fridge. Enjoy this delicious smooth and creamy green sauce!
