This orange smoothie recipe is the perfect treat that will satisfy your cravings this summer (or year round) and it is packed with nutritious and delicious blueberries and peaches! As you may know I absolutely love smoothies year round, it is a great way to get more fruits and vegetables into your diet and by adding a protein source your are also making this a more satisfying treat or meal.

Frozen fruit is a great addition to any smoothie recipe (no need to buy frozen you can always freeze some fresh blueberries or fruit of your choice like strawberries) instead of adding ice, your packing your smoothie with more nutrients and flavor while turning it into a cool and refreshing drink. With the addition of frozen frozen blueberries your also getting a punch of antioxidants including vitamins C and B!

Peaches also add a little sweetness to the recipe (no need to add sugar, simply find a nice ripe peach), dietary fiber, vitamin A, niacin, potassium and vitamin C. 

In order to make this smoothie more filling and satisfying I added avocado (you'll never know it's in there unless your smoothie turns green - this smoothie should be purple due to the blueberries). If you have never tried avocado in your smoothies now is your chance! It reminds me of adding yogurt, giving the smoothies a creamier texture along with protein and healthy fats.

orange smoothie Recipe ingredients:

  •  2 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Un-Sweetened Hemp Seed Milk (or milk alternative of your choice - can also substitute for more water)
  • 1 Banana (Peel removed)
  • 1 Orange (Peel removed)
  • 1 Peach (Peel and seed removed)
  • 1 Cup Frozen Blueberries
  • 1/4 Avocado (add up to a half of an avocado for a creamy texture)

To make this quick and easy treat all you need is your blender and the above ingredients. I always try to buy organic and/or local when possible. In order to enjoy this year round try freezing fruit while it's in season. In a blender combine the following:

Start by peeling the banana, orange, remove skin and seed from the peach and scoop out a 1/4 of the avocado, place items into the blender.

Next add the water into the blender along with the un-sweetened hemp seed milk and continue to place remaining ingredients into the blender. Pulse and puree until smooth, creamy and all ingredients are well combined.

Pour into 1 to 2 glasses and enjoy! This can be enjoy immediately or place into the fridge to save for later just remember to stir before drinking.
